Château Moncontour represents one of the most beautiful and renowned vineyards of the Loire Valley. Established in 1271 by Guillaume de Sainte Maure, the tradition of passion and improvement continues today with current owner Mister Feray. Moncontour spans 130 hectars (325 acres) with parcels coming from territories of the AOC Vouvray and a few hectars in AOC Touraine. The winery of Château Moncontour has been carved in the rock below the park of the Château so that the grapes can be transferred smoothly by gravity into the pressers and then into tanks. Only the best juice is extracted and then fermented in steel vats or barrels to produce both sparkling and still wines (dry, medium-dry and sweet).
